Why You Should Choose a Vinyl Wrap Over Paint

There are two types of people in this world: people who drive cars and people who love cars. While most people appreciate that their vehicle gets them from one place to the next, others care about more than just practicality.

The way a car looks can say a lot about someone’s personality, interests, and sense of style. For someone wanting to change up the look of their car, there are two options to do so, either by installing a vinyl wrap or painting on the car’s surface.

There are certainly reasons for choosing each of these options over the other, all dependent on factors such as the condition of your car, how frequently you plan to change things up, maintenance, value, and more. For the sake of this blog, we will focus on the reasons why a vinyl wrap would be preferable overpainting.

Custom Designs

Wrapping your car allows you to bring your vision to life. Vinyl wraps can do everything paint can do without the added cost you would have to pay to achieve the same look with paint. Color options are endless and custom designs can be created to give you exactly what you’re looking for. Plus, you can achieve a matte, shiny, metallic, and even textured finish.

Durability and Lifespan

Another benefit of choosing vinyl wraps over paint is that, with proper care, they will last a very long time. Plus, wrapping your vehicle acts as a shield against sun damage, scratches, paint chips, and more, without sacrificing the original paint job. Painting over a car means it’s still susceptible to surface damage.

Vinyl Wraps = Easier Maintenance

The whole point of wrapping or painting a car is to make it look better, not worse. In order to keep things looking fresh, regular maintenance is required. Paint jobs can quickly start to look dingy and dull if you don’t wash and wax your vehicle on a weekly basis. If you neglect your vehicle after getting a paint job, it won’t last as long as it should. That’s not to say vinyl wraps don’t need maintenance, however. They do, but it’s typically easier to keep them clean. All you need to do is gently wipe the wrap with a cloth when it gets dirty.

Time Away from Vehicle

It’s always a hassle to give up your car for a few days (or weeks). You have to make other arrangements to get to work, the grocery store, or wherever you need to be. But, it still ends up being worth it when you get your custom-designed car back from the shop. If you’re concerned about how long you’ll have to be without your vehicle, you should know that generally speaking, wrapping is a much quicker process than painting. Of course, you can discuss this detail with your chosen installer, but each paint application will have to dry. Depending on what paint is used and how many coats applied, this can take more than a few days.
