5 Reasons Why Your Van Wrap Failed

We talk a lot about why van wraps are an excellent tool for your business.

They’re a great way to advertise to a large number of people, they’re a great marketing tool, and they have the ability to be mobile, so they create a lot of visibility. However, if they are not installed properly or aren’t taken care of afterward, van wraps have the potential to fail. If your wrap looks cruddy, it won’t reflect well on your brand and you probably won’t generate new business with it. Basically, if one aspect of your wrap fails, there will be a snowball effect to follow. Here are five common reasons why van wraps fail and how to avoid it from happening to yours.

1. Improper Preparation

Before your van is ready for a wrap, it has to be in pristine condition-a car wash doesn’t cut it. All dirt, oil, and debris has to be removed from the vehicle to ensure the vinyl bonds to the surface. While dirt may be invisible to the eye prior to wrap installation, it will be visible once a wrap is installed, creating an unsightly texture. Oily residue can lead to an inability for the wrap to adhere to the vehicle or cause your van wrap to bubble. Proper pre-installation prep would include chemical cleaning on your vehicle to prevent any of this from happening.

2. Using the Wrong Vinyl Film

When you’re searching for a professional installation company, cheaper isn’t always better. In fact, cheaper installation prices probably mean that the materials they use are also cheap. The wrong film will lead to bubbling, wrinkling, poor adhesion, and distortion. Seek out a reputable company that will use high-quality materials on your van wrap.

3. Overstretching the Material

Often the result from using the wrong vinyl film, overstretching a van wrap will lead to distortion and fading. If you want the artwork on your wrap to look like your original design, listen to the advice we gave above. Don’t use a company that offers low prices for low-quality material. Otherwise, your circle logo might end up looking like an oval. That’s just plain embarrassing.

4. Neglecting Aftercare Maintenance

This part is on you. When you get a van wrap installed, you have to take care of it afterwards. Even the best looking wrap will end up looking bad if it’s not given the proper care and maintenance during the course of its lifetime. Wraps should be cleaned often, using soft microfiber cloths, not abrasive scrubbers.

5. Choosing the Wrong Company

We don’t want to scare you out of getting a van wrap for your business. A lot of things can go wrong, but most of the time, mistakes stem from using the wrong company.
