We often have customers come in who are wanting to spruce up their car by changing its color, but aren’t sure how they want to go about doing so. There are only a few options when it comes to transforming the color of your vehicle: paint jobs, auto wraps, or a different car entirely.

It might be a little unrealistic to get a different car just because you want to change up the exterior. There are a lot of important things to consider before trading in a vehicle, such as budget and mileage. For those reasons, we’re just going to consider auto wraps and paint to be our options for changing the color of your car.

Are you trying to decide which option is right for you in the long-run? At GameTime Wraps in Little Rock, we’ve got a lot of knowledge about auto wraps and why they’re often preferable over paint. In fact, here are 3 things to consider when trying to decide between a wrap or a very permanent coat of paint.

 1. Paint Cannot Be Easily Removed

You know that permanent coat of pain we mentioned earlier? Painting a vehicle is a decision that will stay with you long-term. Custom paint jobs have the potential to bring your car’s value up or down, which can be an important factor to consider if you ever look to sell your vehicle. Custom paint jobs cannot be removed in the same way a wrap can; it takes a lot more work and is often more expensive.

With auto wraps, you don’t have to worry about any damage to your vehicle if one day you decide you don’t want it anymore. Plus, when you decide to get a new car, the resale value won’t be affected because you decided to change the exterior. An auto wrap will come off with heat and patience, something a professional can do in just a day or two. The original paint job on your car will still be there, looking just as good as it did before.

 2. Auto Wraps are Budget Conscious

Your choice between wrapping and painting is likely dependent on cost; you are probably wondering which option costs more, which will last longer, etc. Vinyl wrapping a vehicle is usually cheaper than a paint job. Each will cost you a few thousand dollars, but when we start talking custom paint jobs, the prices start to look a lot different.

Additionally, professionally installed auto wraps are known for their ability to last a long time. This makes them a budget conscious choice because you can be assured knowing they’ll last unbothered on your vehicle for years to come. Paint jobs have the potential to rust, peel, and scratch, which can damage your car’s original surface. If an auto wrap gets scratched or peels, the surface of your vehicle will remain the same.

 3. Wraps Offer a Quicker Turnaround

You know what they say, time is money. And, if money is something you are concerned about, don’t forget to factor in the time it will take to wrap or paint your car. You may need alternate transportation, which can be hard to find for the extended amount of time it takes to paint a vehicle. Wrapping a vehicle is a relatively quick process; depending on the complexity of the request, the job can be finished as quickly as one day.

Choosing to get an auto wrap over paint is a decision we support, for more than one reason. The decision is yours to make, but whatever you do, make sure you work with a reputable company that produces quality work.
